Tulum Beaches

ACTIVITIES

AT CASA BLANCA

At Casa Blanca, you can enjoy a relaxing massage at the house or a fun snorkeling experience at a nearby cenote.

Massage

Ask us to arrange a massage or energy work for you with one of our favorite local professionals. Rather than rushing to the local spa and back, you can receive a relaxing massage or healing energy work on the Casa Blanca patio with the sound of the ocean only a few feet away. We provide a massage table at Casa Blanca and we will be pleased to schedule your appointment. The rates are much less than what you will experience at the local luxury spas, the service is personalized and in the comfort of your “home away from home.”

Snorkeling

At Casa Blanca, you can enjoy snorkeling in the ocean or in a local cenote. A cenote is a small lagoon or sinkhole where you can snorkel or scuba dive to underground caverns. Across the road from Rancho San Eric is a local cenote where you can snorkel for $1 USD. Many more cenotes can be found in the area including Gran Cenote, Carwash, and Dos Ojos. Off the beaches of Tulum lies the Mesoamerican reef, the 2nd largest barrier reef in the world. We can arrange or recommend a local diving company who will guide you to see the abundance of sea life and unique formations of coral.

Fishing on Sian Ka'an Peninsula

Boca Paila is about 25 km south of Tulum in Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve on a 20 meter wide peninsula. Bird watchers will find extremely rare birds among the 339 species of the area. The Caribbean Sea and the lagoon offer wonderful areas to fish. Commercial fishing is banned, so 5000 km are reserved for sport fishing (including fly fishing). Bonefish, snook, barracuda, yellow tail jack, and tarpon are among the abundant species at Boca Paila.

Punta Allen is a small fishing village further south from Boca Paila, at the tip of the Sian Ka’an peninsula. Local fisherman at Punta Allen can take you out on a boat or you can enjoy freshly caught lobster at any of the small, rustic restaurants. This area is fairly remote and the few visitors who venture down the peninsula will enjoy a true Mexican fishing village.

AROUND TULUM

We recommend that you refer to a travel book or the Internet to see area attractions around Tulum, for details. You will also be given a lot of literature by sales people as you come out of customs at the airport. Take the handouts, but don't let them talk you into signing up for something until you have seen CASA BLANCA. You may not want to leave the house.

Some local attraction that our guests have enjoyed include:

TULUM RUINS: Ancient Mayan ruins very close (15 minutes) to CASA BLANCA. An interesting history lesson.

SIAN KA'AN RESERVE: A 1.4 million acre national park, with available boat tours on a pristine lagoon. Great sport fishing at Boca Paila fishing resort. Cesiak

XEL HA or XCARET: AThese are natural water parks for snorkeling and swimming. You will see lots of literature on these two commercial attractions.

COBA RUINS: A less touristy version of the Tulum Ruins, but very impressive.
